We're sharing a community announcement on our blog from Mike Williams (Founder of Everything Marketplaces) that was originally shared as an announcement post in the community here.

Hey all, this has been a long time in the works, so I couldn’t be more excited for us to make our big announcement today for Marketplace Capital, which is our new $10M venture fund to back early stage marketplaces.

We'll be writing $50k-$250k+ checks, primarily investing at the Pre-Seed to Series A stages (occasionally some later stage rounds). I use the word "we" since I've partnered with Andrew Blachman to launch our venture fund, which is Marketplace Capital. Some of you probably know him from his past group chat, posts here sharing insights, and also being a huge help to founders. I couldn't be more excited to be working with him.

My goal for Everything Marketplaces has always been for it to become the best community for supporting marketplace founders and an unfair advantage. That makes this a big next step for us, since it will allow us to now support founders by also backing them through a proper venture fund. Not only that, but our fund investors or Limited Partners (LP's) are the "who's who" when it comes to the world of marketplaces with funds like Craft Ventures, FJ Labs, fund partners like Andrew Chen from a16z, and founders & operators from marketplaces like Airbnb, Outdoorsy, eBay, DoorDash, Belong, Convoy, SeatGeek, Meta (Facebook Marketplace), and more all backing Marketplace Capital. Most funds and some of the big names that have been past group chat guests now have extra "skin in the game" to help support founders here in the community that we'll be investing in.

We've already made our first four investments backing some really awesome founders here in the community, which we’ll be sharing more about soon. In the meantime, we put together a Google Doc to help share more about Marketplace Capital, our investment process, how we make decisions, how we can support founders, & more.
